| DescriptionClose-up on launching filament (SDO-AIA, 304 Å).ogv | This AIA (Atmospheric Imaging Assembly) video shows a close-up view of a filament launch, in a wavelength band that is centered around 304 Ångström. This extreme ultraviolet emission line is from singly ionized Helium, or He II, and corresponds to a temperature of approx. 50,000 degrees Celsius. |

Assessment
[edit]| This file was selected as the media of the day for 11 November 2025. It was captioned as follows:
English: Video of a solar filament of a coronal mass ejection being launched. Filaments are thread-like dense, somewhat cooler, clouds of material that are suspended above the solar surface by loops of magnetic field. Filaments can erupt fully or partially and these erupted material can be observed in form of coronal mass ejections which can collide with Earth's magnetosphere, where they can cause geomagnetic storms, aurorae, and in rare cases damage to electrical power grids.
