About the photograph of "SCP-953"

[edit]

Hello. Regarding this photograph which you reposted from Flickr, I believe the subject of the photo may be cosplaying as Dr. Toraya rather than SCP-953. I have raised the discussion on the talk page, so I would appreciate it if you could take a look. ノボホショコロトソ (talk) 16:17, 12 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Reopening closed DR

[edit]

Hello, I have just noticed you reopened Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Tyler James Robinson on October 7 when it was already closed by Infrogmation on October 4 [1].

I don’t think it was correct procedure to just simply revert their close. Also, since reopening the DR, you didn’t notify me again. I only noticed the DR was reopened, when I noticed on my watchlist that you added the DR tags to the files today.

I do agree with you that more participation to the discussion is welcomed, but I just disagree with the out-of-process method you chose to do it. Also, the DR is currently causing issues according to User:Krdbot/lost deletion requests.

Therefore, I think it would have been way simpler if you would have just opened another DR, instead of reverting the close. So, could you re-close the DR (since it was re-opened out of process) and open another one properly? Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 02:23, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Therefore, I think it would have been way simpler if you would have just opened another DR, instead of reverting the close." Infrogmation could simply decide to close the new DR like he did this one so ultimately that would accomplish very little
I apologize for not pinging you after reverting him. That's on me being forgetful Trade (talk) 02:53, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply. In my opinion, no matter what you think Infrogmation did (or may possibly do) was correct or not, I think it is still out-of-process to revert a closed DR like that. The reason for that is reverting may cause issues (such as the lack of notification I got, or the issues currently in User:Krdbot/lost deletion requests) that can be avoided if you had simply nominated them normally again.
Alternatively, you could have consulted the closing admin (pinging @Infrogmation) and they can decide to revert the DR close themselves.
In the end of the day, I have been notified again one way or another, and I just wanted to figure what causing the issues in User:Krdbot/lost deletion requests, that’s why I suggest maybe re-closing the DR can fix it. If it can be solved another way, then I’m fine leaving the DR as it is. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 03:25, 17 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Design Power Hour no. 12; Sugar Skwid.webm. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{self|cc-zero}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Category discussion warning

Videos of deers has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Information on temporary account IP viewer rights

[edit]

Hello Trade,

On November 12, temporary accounts will be enabled on Commons. The IP of unregistered users will then be hidden for most users. You, as a patroller or license reviewer, are eligible to request the new temporary account IP viewer right, if you need it to continue fighting vandalism and abuse on Commons. If you want to request the right, please file the request here. Please be aware that you also have to accept the Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy in your preferences. For more information about temporary accounts, look at the project page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:34, 7 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Toni and Annie photo

[edit]

To answer part of your query, Description for the photograph was "Toni and Annie Breidinger with Toni's USAC midget". It was claimed as an own work by the uploader and is a racetrack photo with a vehicle. Abzeronow (talk) 22:46, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Do you genuinely believe it was the uploader's own work? Trade (talk) 22:49, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
There are no obvious tells in the photograph itself, I cannot see the metadata since I cannot undo an office action. Uploader seems to be an SPA so that could point to copyvio. I've talked to User:JSutherland (WMF) at Wikimania 2024 and at WCNA 2025, I trust Joe's judgement. Abzeronow (talk) 22:58, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
" Uploader seems to be an SPA so that could point to copyvio" Just seems to be an odd detail to leave out on the DMCA page. Trade (talk) 23:10, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Uploader being an SPA is my opinion. WMF Legal might have had other evidence. Abzeronow (talk) 23:15, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
